People in Motion Plug-in

Hello,

I just realized, that I haven't posted about my new plug-in here yet, though it's out already for some time by now. "People in Motion" was written to make it as easy as possible to add animated characters to your projects from within CINEMA 4D. It's not a crowd simulation, but also includes some simple tools for ground collisions and to avoid character to character collisions.
Obviously I had architectual visualisations in mind, but of course it's not limited to such projects.

The plug-in includes over 50 individual Motion Capture files taken from female and male actors, recorded especially for this product. Of course it comes with female and male characters and some props (such as different hairstyles and suitcases). Five female and male heads are included to add more variations and clothing colors can be set individually by included shaders.
If you're familiar with rigging, you can modify the included meshes or even add your own characters as the plug-in only controls a standard Joint Setup.
Basic character animations, such as standing and walking can be mixed and use transitions, to add even more complex animations. I also included my own IK system to allow individual movements of arms, legs and the head.
To get an idea how it works, please have a look at our YouTube channel:

http://www.youtube.com/user/RodenburgVerlag

Ordering can be done here (Language switch is in the upper right corner):
http://www.rodenburg-verlag.de/

People in Motion runs with CINEMA 4D 13 and 14 (Prime versions and up) on Windows and OS X
Hope you like it, let me know what you think!

Wonderful refinements since the first time it was shown

This plugin should prove to be a must have for anyone doing simulations
as well as arch viz.

Hi Arndt ! Really nice improvments with this plugin ! Some questions if I can :
How does it work with Mograph Cloner and/or heavy crowd simulation ? Any test with 30,50,100... 500 or more bodies ?
Could you import external mocap files inside the preset library ?

Thanks !

wow - looks amazing!

how can I create my own characters, or even just modify the faces?... I will need different ethnicities

How is it possible to assign "realistic" textures to the clothing?

Is it possible to modify the clothing - what if I want a dress for the female?

I will probably buy this very soon - when I get some cash.

Hi Aurety,

thank you! The Character objects have to be physical copies, so they cannot be clones, but of course you can create hundreds of characters and animate them by the plug-in.
I did some tests for fun using up to 400 characters with no problem. The plugin also includes an option to automatically disable all character Skin deformers and the mesh display to speedup editor redraw when dealing with such high character count.
Still I would like to point out, that this is not meant to be a crowed simulation. Character to character collision detection is included, but not robust enough to deal with such high character counts, especially when placed in small space.
Up to now I use my own MoCap format. This speeds up animation as almost no keyframes are necessary in the timeline. On the other hand no regular MoCap data can be used, but I am thinking about adding a slot to load your own files in the future.

Hi, thank you. The characters are just simple meshes and can be modified in any way. Just edit the heads (they are separate objects already) or the body meshes and save the new characters under a different name in the content browser for future access. If you don't modify the point count or point order while editing, you can even keep the rig weighting. This saves a lot of time, as the included characters even show facial expressions, eye movement and finger animation.
Regarding the textures its easy as well. You can create your own materials and apply them to the characters. Same about female dresses. You just have to care about the rigging by yourself then.
Btw. here is an example what one of my customers did just some hours after his purchase. Something I really didn't had in mind at first while programming it ;-)

So we could sculpt over the mesh in zbrush/mudbox and bring it back into PIM and everything would still work?

Hi,

you can sculpt over the same meshes or use your own. Just keep in mind that you might have to weight the meshes again to make them work with the joint rigs animated by the plugin.

Hi,
I just
released another plug-in update. You can now also bake the character animation for easier NET rendering. Customers should already have received an updated download link. I also posted a new video about this feature here:
