DPIT Enviro is the solution to come... (nope I don't have a release date)

Any more thoughts on releasing that mesher Samir. Looks like even at release 13 and a Studio grade price tag, the current C4D metaball object is still no better than it was in 1998.

Thanks for the info - appreciated

Still - at £3000 + you'd thing you get tools that weren't from the last century - literally!

I made a render around Matthias' Cloud to see how it looks when rotated, I like this solution very much.
I lowered the sprite count to half so it's not as solid as the original, but that's only because I rendered on a dual-core laptop.

You can see it here: Direct Link

Looks very fluffy indeed

Nice info Samir. I hope there will be way to apply volumetric shader to polygonal mesh with lots of geometry in the scene. Vue clouds seems to render ages, what's your predictions about render time and memory consumption, or maybe its to early for those predictions?

I asked remo a couple of minutes ago. He did not update the Wiki yet, but it's there! I use it all the time it's really cool.

It works for particles, too.

Appreciate any info on this - how is it better than current metaball?

Well,

first it generates a better mesh with better transitions. It bakes the normals to normal tags, too. You can choose between different meshing methods, generating quads or tris in a delauny fashion. You have a smooth mesh function similar to Real flow to enhance mesh quality even further. It works with points as inputs and it's really a lot faster.

You are becoming very boring.
First off you don't pay 3000 for each update. w. MSA it is around $600

And Oh no! we can do something that is can be done in other software...but the workflow is different...obviously that mean ours is the shittier software.

If you hate C4D and its functionality so much use something else.
No one is forcing you...max starts at 3990 USD w. their oh so amazing MSA.
Maya is the same.
Free market dude...use what works for you.

Leave the rest of us in peace to discuss technique.

I'll post here as long as there is free speech.
Kettle - black - all your posts on technique?

Thankfully I don't need to deride others or have such a high opinion of myself that I pretend to speak for the whole forum.

Its a fact of life, if something works we don't tend to discuss it.
If you don't like it, I'm not forcing you to read or comment. Just look at other threads here, people have noticed that some of C4D's tools are genuinely ancient.
Do I hate C4D? how on earth do you purport to know what I feel. Just because I really don't like anchovies or pineapple doesn't mean I don't like pizza.

If you are paying for the MSA or over £3K - doesn't make any difference to the fact that the metaball object really needs a facelift. Look at what Samir has done - seems a great shame that even some of that functionality isn't available on a 3K app.
