turning off glow effect for one item.

Hi all, baring in mind that I'm using an version of C4d as I've not done much cg for 10 years or so... and I'm hoping that any fixes will work with my version, R9. I'm creating an image using glow effects. I've got one object that uses an alpha plane that is receiving way too much glow. As for the scene, I've got 2 items with glow and the rest are just basic Danel materials as that's all they need for the image. The material for the alpha doesn't have any glow on it at all or illumination etc but when rendered with the glow effect setting active it just becomes a big ball of glow. Is there any way I can remove glow for just that one item?

think that i've figured it out by changing the materials diffuse level on oren-nayar on the illumination tab...
