Quartz Crystal texture help?

Hi there
I was wondering if anybody could help me figure out how to create realistic crystal textures in either Maxwell Render or V-Ray.

I have modeled an ashtray for a client and they want it to be carved out of quartz crystal
i have been trying to render it with caustics and and so forth i just cant figure out a way to create shattered reflections within the material as well as particles of dirt

The material I'm trying to create is very much like Alex Roman's video for Silestone

Can someone guide me on the process of creating such material depth?
thanks so Much
