Baking Ambient Occlusion

Hello everyone,

I am a second year student at Atlantic University here in Puerto Rico studying science and design of video game animation. I am currently developing a game with a team of students and I am having issues with baking the ambient occlusion on my character.
I am currently using Maya 2011. Could anyone please post any helpful tutorials?
Or if you prefer I could send Screenshots of my current issues. Its not a process I've done before so I am a little lost.
