Need help with faceted looking normal maps

I'm getting this problem where normal maps generated in both zbrush and xnormal are coming out faceted.

This can be fixed in zbrush switching on sNormal, though this changes the shape of the normal map.

If it's doing this in xnormal than I can only assume it is something to do with my obj's exported from either maya or zbrush :S

anyone got any solutions?

I think edges of your low poly mesh are set to "hard". Change them to soft and you should get rid of that look.
