3ds vray hair: multiple opacity maps

I'm trying to make a fur material in 3ds vray, to make it look less like a carpet i added the VRayHairInfoTex into the opacity slot.
but I want part of the material to be transparent, so it's just small patches of fur.
I made a transparency map and tried to combine this with the VRayHairInfoTex in a VRayCompTex in the opacity slot but now there is still hair growing in the places i don't want it to, only the material underneath has become transparent.

how do i solve this?
