How to flip a texture to an opposite side of a model

The goal: Have two characters that are physically identical like twins but have textures that oppose each other on the sides. Imagine twins that have a full body tattoo down one whole side of their body from the exact center, down their face and body. One on their right and one on their left side.

Where I am now: Done with the model. Done with the UV. Done with one complete texture and now need to flip it for the other character so the tattoo is on the other side.

So the issue is that I didn't think ahead with my UV map and texture to make it an easy flip in a graphics editor like Corel, Adobe, Gimp, etc.(If it is easy to get the UV and texture exactly up and down with the texture correct and exact.) I only have the one UV map for the full character. The face and body are not lined up in such a way that I can just flip the texture. The face, neck and arm are the only parts that really need flipped but does this mean I need to move the UV's around and then flip the textures in an editor? I'm not an expert or I wouldn't have done this mistake in the first place, but I get around 3dCoat ok. If there is other software that might make easy work of this issue I would buy that too as long as its not too much.

Any ideas of how to proceed are much appreciated.

Other software I have: Carrara, Hexagon,

Any help at all?

If the character isn't rigged yet, I guess a dirty way is to mirror your character. Not sure if that's an option. Make sure you flip normals after you mirror.

I didn't think of that. Yes, this will be something to try. I'm not sure if it will work out in Hex or Carrara but its worth a go for sure. If it doesn't, do you know of another program that could do it? I never tried to mirror with a texture applied before so I don't know what will happen but I'll try and do this ASAP and post any results.

Thanks
