3DS Max to Mari FBX camera import help

Hello everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me importing a camera from 3DS Max to Mari.

The OBJs import fine but the FBX camera orientation/location on import is always off. I've tried both 'Y up' and 'Z up' settings in the Max FBX dialogue and both are incorrect. I have also tried every fbx version from 2009-2012.

Does anyone have any insight into this issue? I was surprised to find nothing online meaning it's probably user error but I have exhausted my troubleshooting abilities.

Hello Boognish,

I just had the same issue. I'm using max 2012 and Mari 1.5 on windows 7.

When you export your GEO from max, in the obj export options, un-check "flip YZ-axis(Poser-like)"

For the camera, in the .fbx options, change the up-axis to "Z-up"

Also, under FOV in Mari, change this value to your fov value from your max camera.
