Hi Milenplah,

Thanks for the nice reply, I've got wires up which can be seen here. I was beginning to think no one saw my images as this thread has gone pretty long without any reply of anyone :(

I'm pretty much all self taught with some exceptions on problems I ran into in my early days which I asked answers to from one of my tutors.
I simply started by choosing something I wanted to make (a German halftrack back then) and made it. Only the front tire caused me problems so I asked about that.
UV'ing and texturing are also self taught.
Generally if you find out things yourself they stick far easier than when using a tutorial, certainly at the start of your path.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, even though I haven't replied to the thread in over a year I have seen every update, so at least one person is watching! I just haven't had anything to critique, but we should probably post to offer positive reinforcement at times too, so I will say I think it is looking wonderful. I love the care you are putting in to rigging all the flaps, landing gear, etc... Keep it up!

Last update of the week. (can't work on it over the weekend).
Paint chipping is coming along nicely albeit slow, it's a tedious process at this stage. The larger patches will come later. Currently it's details and scratches as well as the weathering around the wing hatches for the MG's and the ammo belts.
I've also tweaked the glass to not show up as dark anymore now

Hi André, good to see you around here To answer your question: No, I will not keep it this shiney. The currenty state is the maximum reflectiveness of factory fresh paint, I still need to do a lot of weathering. This is roughly my planning:
-I'm putting down the paint chipping basics on the panel edges and lids first (haven't done the bottom of the wings yet) at maximum strength. (This so I can make variations later on easily)
-Secondly I'll tone down the chipping in areas and introduce the primer colour that is under it, as well as wearing that down in areas.
-Then I'll start dirtying her up with grime, oil, dust etc. and everything else you might find on a used warplane
-Then I'll add the wear of the ground crew and fix up the existing wear.

Currently the plane has basic paint, a weathering test on the cowling and prop-blades and basic paint chipping on most of the other exterior areas.

------

Milenplah: You are welcome!

It's been quite a long time since I made any updates for this plane. At some point it got really busy with freelance work and other responsibilities so I had to drop it for a while.
Some more work Yesterday but since I'm on my 4 year old laptop at the moment and don't have my tablet with me (until Tuesday) things are not going as fast as normal

Click for large images

Cheers,

Thanks Mirko, good to see you are still alive

Telemachus: Thanks!

Scote: What do you mean? In this thread? I took them down because they were outdated and eating up a lot of bandwith of my website.

Well last year at the high peak this P-47 thread was pulling 12GB of traffic a month for my website, so I had to reduce the number of images, sorry.

I did put some older images in the first post
