Republic P-47C Razorback

I've been asked by a client to model a P-47 as a commission. Here are the first images of this new project
For now my Panzer II project will be on hold for a while!

Update 05-07-2013:

After all this time I can finally call this model truly finished. Today I took care of the final texture fixes on my planning and this is it.

I'll make some beauty renders soon, these are to show the finished textures and model from various angles in relative close-up.

Enjoy!

can we see some wireframes?

I'll post wireframes once the model is finished like always. I want to clean them up where needed in the end

Ok, I've revised the general shape of the fuselage and cowling, as well as the shape and thickness of the wings.

Also, the plane has the basic control-surfaces now excluding the trim-tabs on the main wings.

And here is the update for today, added various details:

-Cowling flaps
-Oil cooler flaps
-Engine exhausts
-Intercooler doors (also corrected the intercooler area)
-Turbocharger exhaust
-Asymmetrical antenna
-Rear of the canopy

Some minor pinching near the front vents which I will correct later.

Looking better and better! Now add some small details and the propeller. Then unwrap and add seams, rivets, and other bump details.

Still a lot of mesh detailing to do first. And I need to make a detailed engine and cockpit for the client as well. But I am looking forward to the texturing already!

Nice! Looking forward to see more!

You might wanna look into the P47 model that has been done by A2A Simulations for MS FSX Since these models are very picky on getting every detail remodelled accuratly, you might take it as a reference or to compare with your model... just look up sceenshots and videos

Here is one for example....

That is an interesting video indeed. The "D" version in the video is only slightly different from the "C"version I am modelling.

The "C" has less cowling flaps and is missing the pronounced bulge on the belly just behind the cowling among others.

Ferodun, as I said earlier I will show the wires once the model is completed and I've cleaned up where needed.

Resumed work today, had some other part-time work to take care off.

Modelled the basic shape for the canopy, still tweaking it because it's not as straightforward as it looks

Also, worked on the tail section, trimtabs and hinges.

Hey cool! Flawless modelling here! keep it goin... cant wait to see more.

Thanks!

Put the smaller details into the rudder area, included the outer MG barrels in the wings (yes they are supposed to be asymmetrical to the leading edge ), added ailerons with their respective details and slightly changed the airfoil shape.

There is some pinching here and there which will be fixed later on, as I have a poly limit for this project and I want to get the details in first.

I was able to get back to work on the P-47 today. Fixed all the pinching on the control surfaces and started refining the canopy and windscreen.
