Airwolf '84

Hey CGTalk community. I am starting this thread to; one, show off my love for computer modelling, and two, my love for Airwolf, my favourite TV show growing up as a child.

I had started this model a while back but had become busy with other things, and conducting a personal study on the human body (another area of modelling that I am very interested in) have looked and found quite a lot of reference but the more I find, the more I see how painful this is going to be.

In the beginning was mainly gonna focus on the external areas but have been largely inspired by the likes of Nerick's Rafale B model, fael097, ramek81 and especially ACantarel AMAZING MEDEVAC helo.

For this model I also want to show seems and have a somewhat of a constructed look showing seams and joints.

Sweet geometry for the machine gun! I would be interested to see the poly-flow of the helicopter itself. Good start can't wait to see the final product

...Been working on the guns some more looking at reference images, I know that most of this detail will not be seen in the grand scheme of things (an incredibly grand scheme!) but I wish to improve my modelling skills and have to admit the quality of the other members on the site has pushed me.

This was one of my favorite shows growing up.

This is a fantastic job so far!

It makes me want to further develop my modeling skills.

very nice modeling Artdigital. I wonder how did you begin to start modeling such a complicated object with all those holes and different shapes? can i see an wireframe of it unsmoothed?

Brings back memories this It looks like the makers of the series recycled a pair of German 2nd WW machineguns. Or atleast something very similar looking.

Nice modelling so far

AACOX1986: My topology for 'The Lady'. As you can see I want to have as much as be accessible, hence all the spaces.

Early texture test for chain guns...

This is pretty amazing so far ArtDigital and thanks for taking the time to show a technique and wireframe. I usually just delete a face and turbosmooth... lol .

I can only give some encouragement as this project is beyond me. Keep up the good work

Thank you gyarados, much appreciated feedback.
This project is more that I thought as I am modelling areas of the Bell 222 (the helicopter modified for Airwolf) that I cannot get clear reference for so I am using some 'creative licensing' for areas, plus I want the guns and cannon to deploy via rigging so that's more work....
