Thank you and yes, voxel modeling and light beams are available in cryengine.

I have some new sequences so I will extract pictures and post some in a few days.

I made some new pics while testing the new ground/mud. Made with the cryengine 2 DOF

These ones don't have DOF, so they don't look as pretty.

have you tried using the speedtree tools? i think your voxel modeled trees look great. you could definitely use the crysis assets to detail your tree for the perfect piece of foliage.

i worry that if you don't rig it going forward for animation it might prove to be a huge pain later on. speedtree can for example rig your vine to sway in the wind in a way the crysis engine can understand.

otherwise you've really hit on a clever technique here. could you tell us a little bit more about the story, like a logline? e.g.,

On their Pacific voyage, the adventurous JANE (22) and AUDREY (25) find unusual artifacts in the waters of an unexplored tropical island. They set foot in search of the unknown inhabitants, whose cunning and hostility they discover too late.

The speedtree software looks nice and promising judging from the demo movies.
But I don't think I will have anymore time to learn and use yet another software. I think I finally have everything I need and sorted out.
I have also a high quality solution for plant dynamics - characters can interact with vegetation and also the vegetation will react to wind or helicopters and so on.

I can't really tell more than what is already written on the first page :
"A couple of teenagers decide to go on a trip in their final days of summer holiday. But their innocent little trip turns into something else when they discover something beautiful beyond words and terrifying at the same time"

But basically it's like your little tag line with Jane and Audrey

It's a mystery-adventure film. A few youths find themselves on a journey. Changes in the story leads them through some strange looking places where strange things starts to happen.
Suddenly they will find themselves in a race with time to figure out some things and soon will realize they are about to witness something far more greater than they expected.

How do you create such quality renders with the CryEngine?

I suppose you use a lot of secret scripting tools that aren't within the grasp of us mere mortals?

You need to create a breakdown of the process. Man, would I love to see that.

Thank you and I'm not using anything special for these screenshots. I will use some more tools for the movie, but I didn't use them yet for most of the pictures.
The Bokeh shader is available for download on my blog or on the crysis forum.
Most people assume I'm using some special sauce for my renders. That goes to show how underrated cryengine is

A small update with another modeled plant for the environment

Areca Tree
(ignore the background - it's just a test scene)

close-up pictures. Perhaps the models do not hold up at this zoom, but I won't get this close anyway in the movie.

It holds up quite well. Nice model!

Have you switched to CE3?

Thank you Shletten . This project was on hold for at least 5 months I think, but in a few weeks I will get back to it. I can't switch to cryengine 3 for this project - because it would be far too difficult, not to mention I have custom developed stuff which can't be ported to C 3. For a future project ... I don't know, depending on what new features the future cryengine has.
I would love at least some form of customizable real AO, models with real vertex animation import, higher polygon count limits, maybe non real-time features like Area shadows and so on.

kybel : thank you. Your ultra-real character and skin development is fantastic.

Thank you Kirt.

---------
The project is not abandoned. I will never abandon this project . It's just going slow because of all kinds of (paid) side projects.

--------

I'm using multiple techniques for this movie (just like most movies today are made)

These pictures are not 3d. I'm hoping they match the feeling and color scheme of the cryengine renders.

And these are cryengine renders (unfinished) :

short gif animation
