Female hand

Software: ZBrush

Hi guys,

It has been awhile since I have posted something. I am in the process of creating a female hand, I want to make it look as realistic as possible.
Currently, I am in the modeling phase and still need to texture.

I would appreciate any feedback.

I must admit that the angle of the pictures make it look strange.

45 degree

Good start. I think the end of the thumb is too fat

Just a quick update on my progress.

Looking forward to any kind of feedback.

nice start...the first segment of the middle finger looks slightly too long, though.

Hey Bianca,

Your off to a great start! Are you working from reference images of your own hand, or are you just looking at your hand as you go? The skin details look great, almost photographic.

If you've got hand photos, could you maybe share a few of them?

Just from casual observation, the pinky looks a little small, and the thumb looks too large. Although I know nothing about anatomy, and I'm not sure what your hand looks like.

Hi Bianca,
overall, it's a really nice organic sculpting.

Probably the reason why the pics look weird from some angles is that you have perspective turned off. If so, you can simply hit "P" on the keyboard to switch perspective on and off.

I think the first thumb phalanx sticks too much out from the carpus area, which is kind of right but it's brobably too much especially from the top view. There should be a couple of tendons flowing through that area defining a more linear profile from the top view.

Thank you all for the feedback.

The-FubaR: Thank you for pointing that out to me I will work on it today.

AJ1: Hey Aj, hope you doing well. I have mainly just been looking at my own hand most of the time as I thought its a good 360 reference and I always have it readily available look at. I took some pictures of my hand so you can see what it looks like. Not the best photos but, hopefully it gives you an idea.

jacopoS: Hi jacopoS, I am new to Zbrush and loving it so much. So thanks for telling me about the perspective shortcut. The advise you have given me is useful. I really appreciate it.

Made a few adjustments, whats your thought?

The overall profile of the hand seems a little bit off. The following changes look more natural to me:

Also the thumb doesn't look as relaxed as the other fingers and should maybe be rotated a little bit more down and inwards (as if trying to touch the pinky finger).

Thanks Schpielkind for the help it is very useful!

I am really struggling with the thumb area as you can tell.
Here is an update on my progress.

Now the thumb is too big, I think. Also the tip of the middle finger is a bit skewed. Added a bit of a taper to the thumb as well.

Busy doing research for texturing. I am going to use Mari this time.

Mari Start

Apologies for the bad screen shot I am new to Mari and not sure if I can render out images. Here is the result so far. I am still working on the fingernails. Let me know your thought.
