Linguini's kitchen

ey guys! Ratatouille is my favourite cg animated film.
I love the scene where Remy and Linguini bonds when they were "learning" to cook!

So I've decided to work on this "kitchen" corner of Linguini's apartment.
Did very rough concept sketches and I may include slight alterations to the room layout with added mirrors and other stuff

Here goes:

I love where this is going! It's a great color study, I can't wait to see how it translates into 3D!

I think you have a great start in the 3d . You just need to pull you camera back some and widen the angle. It might also help to drop your comp in there and try and match things up.

oh yes! the shot I sketched is indeed wider! thanks pointing that out! )
progress on the little little stuff:

Thanks Scote! The forms a really simple though. It's a simple scene with simple objects.
A lot of the work has to be done in the texturing and I'm done with the unwrapping! It took awhile!

I've pulled the shot wider here!

nice work

when you'll get to lighting stage, be sure to add those missing walls, so you have a closed room and the lighting can bounce of the will give you much better lighting and GI

Hey man,

I really like your 2D sketches! Your 3D model is also coming along nicely.

I'm going out on a hunch here, as I couldn't find any stills of the movie scene. Should the walls be limestone? I think his apartment would be on the top of a building like this.

I think the limestone was just used as a veneer of sorts for the facade, and the interior would probably be brick with wood supports. I did see a image in google image that showed the interior with limestone, but that was a piece of fan art.
