Smile War Mecha

Hi,
Just started Practicing hard surface modeling in zbrush. Planning to create an animated fighting mecha. Here's the concept sculpt so far . Still to create the weapon . Then I will start retopo the mesh to rig in maya and Animate it . Thanks .

Hey man,

It looks nice and detailed, but also stiff. Are the panels meant to be flexible, or solid? There isn't much tolerance for the joints.

Do you plan on cutting things apart when you retopoligize and bring it into Maya?

AJ1 Thats the plan. And the panels are solid. While retopolizing I m going to redesign the ab area and also do some rnd at the joint areas to make it more animation friendly. Thanks

It looks quite nice but a lot of the details don't make sense....why are they there, what is there function? All those bolts around the knee for instance or on the butt......

Certainly with a more mechanical design things need to have a function, *especially* if it is military related design.
Also, putting so much weight into the feet and hands will make it unstable and unbalanced when moving. Just think of the weight moving around if you tie a couple of bricks to your hand/feet, it will be exactly the same for this thing.

Thanks cobra6 for your time to reply and for great suggestions . It will help me in making the final character .

Got some time to work on it. Still to work on hands , pelvis , leg and back. But I thought share the maya viewport screen grab . Did some design changes for the rigging. Still to do a lot. Hope u all like it . Thanks.
