Batmobile '89

Since the release of BATMAN in 1989, not only did I become a huge fan of the character but a massive fan of the Batmobile conceived by production designer Anton Furst, slick, tough and gorgeous this version deserved more than two film appearances.

I plan to model this in sections as the actual car is built with visible seam lines... Here is the first section.

I like this model too.
First I thought the front should be longer, but I remembered that was the one in Warner Brothers Batman animated series.

I tried modelling the nose end which leads to a centre line to the windshield, I considered adding this on as a separate object but it didn't have the look I wanted (a molded all in one look) then I thought about not having any smoothing but still not the look I wanted.

I was apprehensive about modelling this all in one because of the weird ceases that can occur but this was the approach I took and I believe the result is OK.

I also started on a second section behind the bonnet but then realise I need to make the gun plates larger...

Topology issues...

It's been a while since I have made any progress on this project so I decided to do somethink about it but find myself running into topology problems, to minimise 'bumpy areas' I felt I needed to collapse some edges. If you look at the side vent it is quite detailed yet when it gets to the back wheel base it needs to be less...

Fuel cap issue...

I also had issues with creating the fuel cap on the side vent, the mesh started looking messy, on my third attempt I think I got it to look OK...
