WIP, help me to made UV map please

hello guys,
I am getting mad!
Almost a month as passed trying do find out the best way in order to make a good UV map of this model:

and still I have not yet get my goal.

I don't know which edges I have to select to unwrap a good uvmap, so, someone could suggest me what I need to do please?

Help a desperate modeler!

Here u are theresult of my effortsto get the UVmap,
every suggestion to imporve it is very apprecciated,
a question: what about the resolution for this kind of texture?

way too many pieces for the main body imho.
i would uv the main body shape as a one piece uv shell. saves you a lot of headaches when it comes to texturing

this should serve as a good reference

Hello Henning,

Kybel, please, I am toe bounded! :( I am so close to the goal!!! but...
I have a toe problem!!!

I suppose to have seamed the area in a correct way but the problem remains, here u are:

As u can see, I cannot go over the toe with a good texture, because its UV appears like from top view...some suggestions?

hmm, thats weird. cause you cuts look fine to me... the uvs of the pinky dont correspond to them at all

Ok I left the toe issue, I closed the edge loop detaching the base of the feet from the main body...
here u are the result...
For me that's fine working on it!

I leave u with a preview of the wip, I am really enjoinig add textures and see model getting alive!
