need help with a modeling WIP

Ok so now i have my low poly gun and i want to start my high poly. Thing is i dont know where to start, at least everything seems to be fine on my low poly. My question is, should i divide it in more than one object because right now it is only one object (maybe i could divide it in multiple part) if so, what are you recommending? when i divide in multiple object, if i smooth everything, i will have gaps between pieces, any tips on how to avoid that?



anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you all!

Hi,

Your object is 1 whole element or different elements in 1 object? If the blue parts are different elements, you can try extracting them out.

Another method is if your mesh are not all quads, you can try not to smooth the whole mesh but instead you manually chamfer the edges yourself and use normal smoothing and it can give quite a good rounded edge.

Hey man,

I would just start with your current model, and work on smoothing out the meshl. Could you post a few larger screen grabs that show your wireframe? There might be a few areas of your model that could use some cleanup. Is this a recreation of some existing IP, or is this of your own design?
