1930s racer Resto-Mod #3: Chester's "Goon"

Number three in my ongoing series of "Resto-Mod" 1930 Nationals Air Racers is - Art Chester's "Goon". This aircraft was a record-setter and winner in 1939 at Cleveland. Unfortunately, the reference material available is sparse at best, and as such, I'm making up a bit of this thing as I go along since I'd like to modernize it - but frankly there's little reference to go on.

** Yes I know the engine cowl vents are opposite the reference photo. I WAS able to find out that the setup in the photo was not the configuration Art Chester settled on. He actually had Menasco make him another inline six motor rotating the OPPOSITE way (???) so my model has the louvres on that side facing forward for air intake.

Couple days worth of work so far:

Slow moving on this one but... after probably ten hours of detailing and building the engine I realized...

... no one is ever going to see it. So about the top of the crankcase I just gave up making it super detailed because... yeah.

Moving on!

Well, an image of the plane in the hangar, covers opened, some mechanics working on the engine... that could work i think. So maybe it's not a wasted effort . Like it so far, keep it up.
