Adelaide Street Scene

Hi there, This is my first post on CGtalk so hello to all from Adelaide Australia!
After starting to model this morning I decided to create a WIP thread for fun

So here is what I have so far, working in Maya btw.

The design is based on an old building here in Adelaide but i'm not going for an accurate recreation just using it as a base.
My hope is to eventually create a scene at an intersection in a city, once i have created all the assets that is :P

So I will update as often as I can and would be very thankful for any comments etc.
Cheers, and hope you all are having a great day!

UPDATE:

Ah Adelaide, my hometown. Nice so far, I recognize the style of the building but not this particular one. I'll be watching this thread.

Finished up the first building and now almost finished work on the corner pub, also added tram lines to the road to add some detail to an otherwise plain surface aha

Next its on to the BG buildings and street details like lights, traffic lights, etc

Good progress so far, the old architecture is very similar to what's in Perth. Are you aiming for a particular time period?

So now I have decided that it will be a daylight scene, so I went and setup some lighting that I like, and a simple skydome for FG , going to add more building in the background but i want to get the main materials done first

Good progress! What about changing the FOV of the camera, to give the shot a more dramatic approach?

Thanks mate , i did not think of that! aha thanks so much for giving me a suggestion!, I have tweaked it and i'm rendering an image out now, in the mean time here is where the materials are at , they aren't final yet (especially the stripy building haha). at the old camera angle :P
