Ascension

My sci-fi take on the many paintings of people ascending to heaven. This is not meant to be inflammatory, religious, or anti- religious in anyway.

I would love input from the many amazing artists on here on how to improve my piece. Any critiques would be welcome.

You say that it could explode at any minute, but it doesn't have that feeling in the image. It just looks like a old jetpack that's had a lot of use. the pieces are too perfect for it to be hobbled together as you put it. Also, if it could explode any minute, I think I would be really worried and not have the expression she does. To me, her expression is more of a "Meh, look at me. I'm just gonna fly away for a bit". It looks likes she not even interested in all of it.

You can try and add some heat distortion under her jetpack to make it a bit more realistic. And I'm guessing the background is just a 2D plate?

Thanks for the reply Snipes. I agree with you about the expression on her face not being urgent. My inspiration and title for this peace came from the many master paintings of people leaving the toils of earth behind and ascending to heaven. I should probably change that description because I want her to appear graceful not tense with fists balled and a furrowed brow. I do think I sound replace the silhouettes of the smoke stacks and buildings with modeled versions.
