Fly, You Fools!

I've been working on this for the past day or so; I've still got a ways to go, but I figured I might as well post what I have so far and update it as I go.

Here's an update.

I feel the paper feel more like cloth. Not the plane, which looks good, but the rest.

You have a snowy scene outside of the window, which I think did not contrast well with the white paperplane, unless of course, you make the plane with a different color.

The blurring also seems to even on the background. I expect the further the distance, the more blurred, DOF effect.

Just a thought, maybe instead of white papers, have it pages of the magazine or something, & have some torn edges.

Colored paper clips would look nice also.

Thanks for the critiques! I've changed the background (I like a summer atmosphere better, actually), changed the blurring in the background so objects closer to the camera are sharper, and added a few magazine pages (I'll probably change another sheet or two of paper to magazine pages as well soon).

I still have to make the paper look less cloth-like, add a few colored paper clips (and some pencils/pens and a pencil sharpener, perhaps), and it'll be much closer to being finished, hopefully.

Look much better!

I just try dropping a piece of paper several times to get the feel how the paper will look at free fall.

You can try it. A magazine paper are usually softer & will bend more when free fall, But still probably ' C' shape & not say an 's' shape (like the piece the paper closest to the pencil), while a typical printing paper is stiffer, & the curvature is less when it fall.

maybe you can also consider motion blur on the papers. It could look good.

By the way, I seen your ball image in your gallery. looks really nice!

Can you explain the image and what your goal is?

The papers look unnatural and PKD is right about the stiffness and curvature.

Thank you for sharing!

Yeah, I've worked on the papers/magazine pages a bit more, but it's still not quite there yet. Oh, well. I'll get there eventually with this image

I was considering motion blur; I think I'll add it soon and see how it looks!

And thanks! I'm glad you like that image

And a couple close-ups:
