Spiderman Falling from Sky - Hdr Studio Light Test

Here's an image I finished recently. Model was downloaded from the web, no name though, tweaked the textured, then created the lighting with IBL in HDR StudioLight, rendered with Iray and comped.

No lights in the scene, only directional used when doing the spec pass above the shoulders and fingers and rim of head.

Zdepth pass used to create the blur.

just experimental, but comments welcome cheers!

i know i am far from the best as i am still learning..

my only crit would be that the model doesnt suit the picture.. if you have some time model out a nice spiderman in high detail... it would make the picture alot more to look at

The lighting is not matching the plate. He should be completely backlit and very dark in the front. If you want to see more light on his front then the plate needs to be exposed to a much brighter level. Also I wouldnt put too much depth blur or the bg will look too sharp compared to him and won't make any sense.

Thanks for the feedback, yup you're right about it should be darker at the front since the sun is behind, I just didn't want to much contrast. here's an other test.

Again no lights in the scene, trying to work with IBL only. Used Directional light for Spec and shadow pass only.

I know he's supposed to be falling rather than swinging but can't help but think the pose could be more dynamic, more Spidey. Really like the lighting in the second render though the attitude seems a little high, looks more integrated.

Here's a third image, trying to take your comments into account, this was a real challenge as I did the composit in nuke for the very first time, and the image sun/shadows differ from the smoke effects which were added by the compositer.

I animated 50 frames for the light and then just picked the one that I felt worked close enough.

...I'm still trying to figure why Spider-Man is falling from such a high altitude with nothing in sight to web onto.

Hey dude, the reason I chos the high altitude is so that he could not have anything to Web to just think of him maybe jumping off a plane or being pushed off a plane depending on the scenario you prefer.?lI also think its visually more interesting n more challenging when doing these type of exercises.
