A quick render. Was all the detailing worth it in the end?

Just a few tests.

The top details are now finished 100%. I noticed a few things tonight I placed in from the clay above. For example, that yellow object which must be some kind of plastic washer.

Nearing some kind of completion stage now. I doubt the back is going to take all that much work, as its broken up into a few pieces, so adding ports etc won't require that many edges to make havok (heres hoping anyway).

Once the modeling side is complete, I just need to add a few details to the controller to match the new Slim version, and then add textures/final studios, etc/animations, and I'm DONE

I seriously hate Photobucket, so got a new host for now:

Added the back and quite a bit of detail as you can see...
I've cut and extruded all the holes I need to finish doing all the ports now.
Even the odd extrusion where a sticker needs to go.

Had a few issues where the curved surfaces hit edges that needed to be sharpish, but I managed to get past that, but that took the most work today.

Hopefully it will all be worth it in the end, so I can move on happy I've done the best I could have done, and move onto my next project

I've seen an issue, but I'll sort that out tomorrow. Just one little pinch.

Managed to do the power port today, and currently still working.

Next up, the AV/HDMI ports

Ignore the odd corners on the panels, as these need fixing up/thickening/sharpening.

Haha, I know!

Thanks

May 21st! I don't think the console will be coming out for a while, so it gives me some time to fully texture/shade this thing.

Its only for a portfolio. Its not for anyone or anything. I don't work professionally in the field (yet)

It probably is but I'm not sure about polygonal work for this kind of thing, but I would love to be wanted.

I reckon we'll see the actual console with Microsoft. It won't be like what the PS4 did, but yeah, certainly the same type of functions.

I'll be working on some of the textures later I think

Finally shaded

Here is a test render with materials. It is only a test, but I'm seriously starting to get happy with the results.
This is all render. Only Photoshop has been used for levels/sharpness adjustments.

i doubt my model would run in real time, with displacement maps, making it render at 21. something million polys

You make that model? It isn't bad, but I can see innaccuracies in the controller, but for the time frame it must have took, its not bad.

My model is also fully sub-D

Right click/View to see the full image!

This is a new render, with the lights now added.

Each sector can be turned off, so a rotation animation can be made. Makes use of 5 texture maps. One for the power button (which rests just behind the physical touch button like the real thing), and the 4 sectors

Working on the back textures now before this version becomes old news

Nah I didn't make it. I'm character modeler for the most part.
