Hi,
I haven`t posted anything here for quite some time, now there is a new project Iīd like to share: PANDORA - The Photorealistic 3d Beauty The Model is completed, now itīs about rigging, skinning, creating a setup for facial expressions and speech etc. So I want to show my complete process of making the model animatable and hopefully get some feedback of what you guys think. Pandora is available on TurboSquid, you can also see turntables of the model there. If you want to check it out, just click my signature. Here some renders, updates on rigging and facial expressions will follow soon. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() __________________

Hey Semih, nice to see you back!
Congratulations on finishing your Pandora. What a huge amount of work! She looks fantastic!Hope youre fine and business is going well. Guess the nuns did occupy Vatican long time ago and the project has been successfully accomplished. Looking forward to see Pandora getting alive! Regards z |

Very nice modelling and texturing but I must admit when I saw the title of this thread I did think this was gonna be a project based on the Avatar film.

It's hard to judge with these renders but I agree that the skin is a bit too waxy. Also it looks very orange.
The hair needs more work though. The strands feel too thick and the specular needs to be broken up more and broader. How does she look in an environment or lit with HDRI? |

Hey Zoltan, long time no see. Yes, it was a lot of work and Iīm pretty happy with how everything turned out. Thank you so much for the kind words, thatīs really motivating!
![]() Iīm ok and everything is going well, hope the same goes for you too. Haha! Yup, nuns won the war, you can check it out in my portfolio (the picture with fire everywhere). All the glowing points are characters with torches, simulated in massive. Looks much cooler in motion, but the film isnīt online yet. What about G. ? Did you complete her? Artdigital >>> Thank you very much, glad you still like her though she isnīt a big blue cat (have to watch this movie again!) I choose the name based on Pandora the greek mythological figure. I didnīt know much about her, only she had this box full of evil... When I struggled with photorealism for a long time and searched for a name, this came to mind. Once this box is opened there is no stopping, you can basically go on for ever refining stuff. thebest >>> Thank you very much! Even real skin itself looks waxy in certain lighting situations, so I canīt say youīre wrong, but Iīm actually really proud on my skin shader, I think it looks pretty soft and realistic. ![]() pap87 >>> Thanks for your feedback, as I said before I really like the skin shader, I tested it in many light situations and even on 4 different displays. Probably Iīm not going to tweak her hair anymore, now itīs really about bringing her to life and concentrating on rigging, skinning and facial expressions/speech. HDRI renderings with environments are on my to do list, when I have the basic skinning finished, I will post something. ![]() __________________

The nocturnal storm of the nuns looks superb - the pontifical housing looks absolutely real! 100% Hollywood-like G. is fine - shes finished and resting now a bit. Shes waiting for the flying kids to get rigged. Here a little shot of the last update. Waiting now for the famous kiss of Pandora! ![]() |

Thank you very much Zoltan, glad you like it.
![]() Congratulations on completing G. Pandora is almost ready to kiss, the basic skinning is pretty complete. Donīt really know how to show the process though, probably some screengrabs will work best. Next update coming soon! In the meantime some wires, click on image for full resolution >>> ![]() __________________

OK here it is, the first posing test! In the screengrab you can see the placement of the joints, probably the neck and shoulder area needs some refinement. The head is detached from the body, so there is this line on the neck, gotta fix this later. Iīm thinking about adding some twist bones to her arms and legs to have more control over deformations and perhaps some extra bones for clavicles and shoulder blades...

Looking very good although I have the feeling her head is too large, might be the hair though.

Soooo sexy
![]() (I must agree though with the previous posters - skin is extremely saturated (-20% would do it) and some issues with the proportions will continue to bother while posing Pandora babe.) |

Thank you cobra6 and zokana!
![]() OK. I would really love to see how you guys would work with this material, so I invite everybody here to do the following: 1. Download the renders 2. Edit them, change colors, saturation, play with proportions (liquify, scale etc) do whatever you think is needed for an optimal result 3. Post your version in this thread and explain what you changed The best result will win my broken washing machine!!! Just kidding, but seriously would be really really cool to see that! ![]() __________________

Hi, I downloaded one of the renders and tried to make some changes to show what I think is the biggest problems with mesh and the material.
My first impression was that her upper body was too long, but in proportion to her head it seems to be right so i think the easiest fix would be to make her arms and legs a bit longer. When her arms is pointing straight down, the top of her fingers should be at about the same height as the middle of her thighs and her elbows at the height of the belly button. To fix the legs I just think you have to lower the knees (and everything below it) with approximately half a head. The colors I just desaturated with -20, lifted the overall gain a bit and took some red out of the shadows and a little bit more yellow in to the midtones. Hope this could be to some help ![]() [/URL] __________________

Of course, I mean who wouldn`t have use for a broken washing machine, so: Congratulations! ![]() Thanks a lot for taking the time, itīs really appreciated. I think youīve posted by far the best modified version, you win the main price! ![]() I tried to understand all of your changes and couldnīt really decide, so finally I tried to match my camera position to that of my reference as close as possible and rendered again from this perspective. Probably the head really could be a little smaller but itīs still within tolarance... As you can see, my model has bigger eyes, smaller feet, different waist and the neck is already elongated. So thanks again for your effort Itīs probably really more about the personal view of beauty than wrong proportions. I will go on with rigging and if there are some refinements that should be done to the model, I will take care about that later when the major rigging stuff is out of the way.![]() __________________
