Ive been working on this model of a customized Datsun 240Z for a while now and wanted to share my progress here as well. Modeled most of it in Modo but also used Maya, Catia and Rhino for some parts.

really clean model ..
might want to look in google for ""bosozoku" 's cars
it might inspire you to take this already great model to new heights :-)

Really nice modelling, my favourite render shot is the second image (back view)

Oh, it looks good. I like dropped cars. I can't wait to see the final result. I like this WIP too.

i looked into that and yeah those are some extreme things right there a little too extreme for my taste and im actually working towards a very specific reference which isnt that crazy
but thanks for the input.

I plan to start the taillights and finalize the grill real soon, so stay tuned

Cheers

Great modelling, I can't believe the detail you've modelled into those tyres

Old 03 March 2012   #9
yeah i guess the tires are overkill, yet i plan to add even more detail

anyways, heres a small update:

added hood vents, wiper mounts, rear spoiler and tweaked the front skirt alot.

cheers

Man, this is looking sick so far. Keep up the awesome work! Those renders are really nice also... are they done in Modo?

this coming from the guy with the crazy detailed helicopter is quite the honor. thanks!

and yes im doing those "clay" renders in modo, with some AE postwork of course .
the white car though, was rendered in 3D Studio Max with Mental Ray.

cheers

Awesome job on the model!

My first impression was that the wheel arches are way to tight, but I did a quick goggle search, and I cant believe some people really lower their cars that much. There must be crazy tire rub!

Great work!

I see catia. Solid modeling also! The tires & badge are clearly done in Catia, what are also done in Catia.

In fact, the whole car can be done in Catia, which is how cars are designed anyway.

I am curious how you gain access to Catia, an industrial software, & how you integrate it with commerical software. What format did you export/import? How do you control the wiremeshes?

The only I can think of is that you work in the Automotive industry, by your location, BMW?

By the way, I also work with Catia, but more for the dasboard area of autocar.

But in my free time, I like to make characters, & stay clear of mechanical, car stuff. LOL.

Its almost like 'cheating' when you make 3D gemetrical models in catia. Industrial software like Catia are so much more advance in modeling (non organic models) than commerial software.

maybe someday, I should integrate my Industrial software modeling feature to commerial ones.

On a serious note, I need to make a simple house, & it would be a good time to integrate (catia with maya), to try to make in in Catia, then export to Maya. Can you share how the export/inport works for you. Thanks a lot.
