Ellis Island Project

Ellis Island, an island near the Statue of Liberty in New York and became the principal office of the city.

Between 1892 and 1954 approximately 12 million passengers who arrived in the United States through the Port of New York, were inspected there, both legally and medically. It is estimated that only a small percentage was deported (2%), making this a group composed mainly of polygamists, criminals, anarchists and carriers of infectious diseases.

Interesting story that inspires us to develop this project in 3D. We start with modeling the elements of the scene: buildings, land, ornaments, trunks, boats, clothing and characters, performing with the software CINEMA 4D R13 of MAXON.

Then we will show you the works in progress (WIPs).

WIP 1 - Trunks

WIP 2 - Hats

WIP 5 - Porch roof

Wow that;s some crazy detailed modeling there. Texturing on those wooden items is very nice, great attention to detail. Beautiful architecture, can;t wait to see it textured.
Maybe shading wise the rusty metal is a bit too shiny.
Is the railing on the ferry that thick? It makes it look a bit like a miniature.

Cheers
Andre

very clean process and production.

but to say a point about texturing, your rusted metal's reflectivity/specularity is a little more shinier than a real rusted metal. Some maps may be needed there.

That is a big project you took on, all the best of luck with it. So far excellent modelling and amazing textures. Please post more pictures as you progress, and if possible some info on software and techniques.
