This is an amazing model with incredible detail. My question is, how are you going to texture it? I understand you have your high dynamic range photos, and I assume you are going to project them? Is everything UV'd or are you going with ptex?

@molgamus: Thanks! It's going to be good old unwrapping and painting the textures in Photoshop using all the tone mapped texture material of the texture shoot Everything is going to be unwrapped in the end.

And I though I usualy exaggerate with details... U`re insane ( in a good way ) . Looks better than the real one. As a render U use Vray ?

Totally amazing work, me too wounder where you get the time from

Can you show a example of your modeling technique? Always when I do high polys in 3Ds max I make it middle poly and then add a TurboSmooth or MeshSmooth, how do you do it?

Thanks and keep the good work up!

@vladutz8417: Haha yeah the amount of detail is slowing me down a lot :-P

@ikonane: Thanks! I barely had tie for weeks now because of a shot I'm working on. Modeling technique is no magic at all, just poly modeling in 3ds max Some parts are low poly with meshsmooth on it, some parts - where it makes more sense - are modeled in their final res.

@tewicks: Yeah fantastic work! I love the tail rotor stuff, very well modeled!

@Zemtsov: спасибо

So my current job eats up all the time now, basically 14-16 hours a day so not really something left for my MI-24 these days/weels/months

Cheers

@MFlemming: Yeah I wish I had more time. Right now I'm so swamped with work (which is good I guess) so there's no time left for my bird atm. But in 2 months all is done and then I can hit the throttle again

Cheers

Not to hijack this thread but I just checked out your C-47 and I'm floored, amazing work there! The WIP thread is archived so I thought I'd just tell you here

You mind if I ask what it is you do for a living (work)?

Old 02 February 2012   #74
@André: after 14 hours of work, sitting down and doing another 3d thing is simply impossible (and also kind of strange from a social point of view ). So.. I'm looking forward to see this bird going on when your job is done.

@teraflop: Thank you! Yeah, i just noticed some weeks before, that the thread has been closed (what a wonder) .. I still have plans to pick up the project again at some point. Ok, but, wrong thread to discuss this.

@teraflop: Ha nevermind, Manuel did a fanatstic job on his bird an I'm happy to share the discussion about it here :-)

@Bryan3D: I'm a visual effects artist for feature film and commercials. Some of my work can be seen on www.cantarel.de . Right now I'm busy whith a bunch of shots for an upcoming movie. I hope I'm done end of March nad then I finally can continue on my personal stuff

@MFlemming: Haha yeah I know what you're taking about But hey, kinda good we're so busy, especially in those times with an economy in trouble!

So yeah, hope to jump on this bird end of March again :-)

Cheers & thanks for stepping by!
Andre
