Game of Thrones Fan Art CGPortfolio mini comp

Oh, come on. You know you love Game of Thrones. You DO! We know you do, because the amount of GOT fan art that you upload is remarkable. And some of it is good.

(Here's one of our favourites so far, from David A.F in Portugal. For the uninitiated, it depicts the moment when 9 year old Bran realises he's actually the Lord of Winterfell)

Because we're all fans, too, we decided that our next CGPortfolio Upload mini-comp should actually be Game of Thrones fan art in celebration of the upcoming fourth season. So, between now and Midnight April 19th (the next month), please upload all your GOT inspired art to your CGPortfolio - either 2D or 3D.

When you do, make sure you tag it "Game of Thrones" for it to go into our new GOT gallery here: http://galleries.cgsociety.org/gall...game+of+thrones

(Give it 24 hours after you upload it for it to appear in the gallery - the gallery is cached

So what can you win?

The top three entries (in either 2 or 3D) will each win a lordship, a free Ballistic Book of your choice, a free CGWorkshop of your choice and the promise we will never publicly display your head on a pike.

Judges are yet to be chosen, but once we've held the selection tourney we'll post the names of the survivors if we're satisfied they won't poison us at any point during the comp (or for some years afterward). Once we dub them, please note their judgement is final and no correspondence will be entered into (unless it's sent by live raven. If you can do that, we'll go there.)

All art already in the gallery is already entered by default - there's no initial upload date, only a final (bloody) execution date (Midnight PST April 19th)

So get posting, ladies, sers and smallfolk! Bring out your Starks Oh, and feel free to post links to them in this thread - we'd love to see what you're posting!

You're welcome! I know your image has been on CGPortfolio for some time, but all correctly tagged images are eligible, no matter how long ago they were first posted.

Hi All,

Entries for this mini-comp are now closed (we'll have a new one soon -keep your eye on this thread.)

Here's a link to the final gallery, which has been sent to our judges Anne Pogoda and Nate Hallinan for their selection and feedback.

Stay tuned for their choices, and check out the gallery in the meantime:

First winners announced!

Hi all,

Our first judge, Nate Hallinan, has come back to us with his two winners (we've decided to award prizes to four people. Why not?)

Here are his choices:

“A very small man can cast a very large shadow” by Josu Hernaiz

Nate says, "This is an incredibly beautiful piece. The emotional tones are fantastic and the unusual use of color, while unique, is pleasing to the eye. I'm not sure if it was intended, but I like how everyone is reaching but not quite touching Joffrey. As if to reflect how everyone appears to care, but by not touching him they show their true nature by gladly allowing it to happen."

“The Return” by Tara Phillips

Nate selected this piece because it's "Extremely well painted and the likeness of the Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is very accurate. The attention to detail with his tattered clothes and the castle environment are very nice as well."

Congratulations Tara and Josu! We'll be in contact regarding your prizes, and watch this space for the announcement of our second two winners.

Second two winners announced

Thank you Anne Pogoda for being our second judge and giving us your choices below:

Anne selected:

Khasis Lieb for his image "Tony Stark of Winterfell" submitted last year (but still eligible under the rules)

She says,"I love this idea of letting your creativity flow and playing with the name of "Stark". The design of his outfit is nicely done and the pose well chosen. He could indeed fit into the world of GOT now. "

Her second choice is "Tyrion Lannister" by richconleyart
.

"The expression of his face really gets me. It is a great depiction of the secret hero of the GOT show. ;D"

Thanks for submitting such great work, Rich & Khasis. We'll be in contact with your prizes as soon as we can. Because winter is indeed coming.
