CGChallenge XXVII - TEN - (video) - sampad01 - TEN PAISA
Hi,
I am entering as solo video category and I am willing to make a short film. You can see my entry post here : http://challenge.cgsociety.org/ten/...ogress/10001651 This short film is titled "Ten Paisa". The word Paisa refers to a specific currency just like cent. The story is not based on any real location nor any real time in history or modern days. But actually, paisa is the smallest currency used in Bangladesh and a long time ago, 10 paisa was worth a lot ![]() To put it simple, we sometimes find it hard in ourselves to pay a guy who just did a lot of hard work for us. We bargain. We try to pay as low as possible. On the other hand, we are easily fooled by some cunning people who take advantage of our emotions and then we just donate money to them without having them work for it at all. We don't even doubt that this person might be a fraud.. I have just finished the storyboard and I am going to upload all the pages of that storyboard next. Kind regards and best of luck to all. I hope I do a good job. Thanks. |

Ten Paisa Storyboard v2
I just redid the storyboard again based on your comments. I didn't create a new post for it because I didn't want the thread to be cluttered.
Here are the pages again... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I really don't want the worker to have a happy ending. This is what happens to poor people. Even though they know there are risks of getting bullied again, they have no option but to go for it and test their luck. Who knows, what happens next... may be he will have a good person as an employer this time who will pay him a bonus? Or he might just get bullied again.. no one knows. Nice idea! I like the story but what happened to the first character who was carrying the sacks? You give the impression that the worker is the main character by showing him first and then making the audience sympathize with him but then the film just moves on. Could you incorporate the worker into some kind of payoff at the end? If not, I would think about reworking the emphasis so that we don't expect the story to be all about the worker.
Just my two cents - looking forward to more! |

Just my two cents - looking forward to more! Hi, thanks a lot for your kind input. Yes you are definitely right about that. I am also thinking about editing the storyboard a bit. But then again, another part of my brain says the worker is not the main character in this story. The main character is actually the fat rich guy. He might be a negative character, a villain.. but to be honest, he actually symbolizes a part of us. We sometimes do things like he did. Also, the 10 paisa coin is in all the events of the story which it is supposed to do. But as I said, I am still thinking and may be I will change it a bit. Lets go through the character concept designs and 3d modeling phase and we can keep thinking as we go. Stay with me. ![]() |

Concept arts
These are the concept arts before 3d modeling phase..
But before 3d modeling, I think I will update the finishing of the storyboard. I am thinking about showing what happened to the worker at the end as prescribed by the comment of KMcNamara. Thanks a lot. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hey, great character concepts. I really love how you've given each of them the emotional disposition that we would expect based on their back story.
It's certainly a valid option to make the story about the rich man - the villains are usually the most interesting characters. If you decide to go this route (which could be great), I would say two things: 1. Either tie up loose ends with the worker or focus less on him. 2. Villains usually have some kind of flaw that makes them act the way they do - give the villain some kind of "ah ha" moment where he realizes his flaws and maybe changes his ways. Just some thoughts. Keep up the good work. |

Keep up the good work. You are right about everything... I kept thinking as I drew the concepts.. The finishing of the story looks really sudden and done in a hurry. I will definitely update the storyboard now. Thank you for your wonderful feedback. Please keep helping me like this. |

But I don't see a way back. I will just keep working as best as I can. Please pray fro me... |

I have updated the storyboards in my post by replacing the old storyboard. I replaced the old storyboard because I didn't want to clutter the thread. Please read it again and let me know what you guys think. Thanks a lot for staying with me.
