another study based on image reference. Didn't completely nail the expressions, which were painted and repainted until...this.

Lunatique, you'll find no argument from me. Everything you said is true.

Finally sat down and watched one of Proko's videos. It was the first gesture drawing video. Although it will take some adjusting, I can definitely see the value in his teachings. Plan to watch more of them as I do studies and push on to anatomy in the future. Below are the first set of 60 gestures I made using advice from those teachings. Also, I'm working on a sword concept as well. WIP

Watched Proko's step by step gesture video and completed this set of 45 sec gesture drawings using his methodology. More practice is necessary, but I like his approach. It centers around the movement, motion, & balance of the subject and its subsequent forms. It's based on the principle that the life of the figure is its gesture.

another study based on reference. Struggling a bit with this one, but on the other hand, the fabric complexity is more than I'm used to and I'm still not comfortable with faces either. I'm also using harder brushes with an increased flow rate since several people have told me I need to work on my edges and what not. Trying not to become frustrated, trying to have fun. Just need to keep at it.

60 sec gestures. Still thinking of proko's gesture principles while doing these.
