Winter illustration - need feedback and critique

Hello, this is the illiustration i did for last years winter season. The main goal with this was to translate the feeling of cozy, cold and somehow special winter in Lithuanian village, with lots of snow. So there it is:

And 2013 January calendar based on that illiustration:

I want to get feedback, on what i did wrong, where i need to improve myself, whats maybe totally wrong and so on. Thank you

The first image is very peaceful and nicely drawn. I like how the line-work for far background elements has been lightened to convey depth.

You could experiment with applying that effect to the houses and trees on the far right, and maybe darkening the line-work of the house on the far left. That might add a little more depth to the illustration.

Due to the graphic overlay of colors, the calender feels like it looses a lot of the charm the first image has. It also doesn't seem to have the control and patience in the line-art that you put into the first image. A lot of the ancillary details, like the snow clumps in the plowed snow, seem to be a little over rendered. They're perfectly fine in your first image, very softly rendered with very light line-weight. But in the calender they are rendered very dark.

This effect you've created in snow clumps for the calendar illustration kind of segues into a bit on compositional theory. Dominant repeating patterns can kill or breath life into an illustration. As you have it now in the calendar, the plowed snow is very distracting. Especially in the center panel.

Nice work overall! Keep posting!
