Steampunk WalkGirl WIP

I have a hard time finishing this picture. Often when I try to polish and colorize my drawings, they lose their freshness. I don't have a workflow at all. When I am at this stage, I lose the flow and just staring at it.

One thing I now recognize is that I didn't have a vision about the environment and light when I started. I think I must build up a context and let the colors come natural.

Doing thumbnail sketches to work out your composition, lighting, values, color palette, etc is definitely extremely helpful. It's far better than moving forward without any kind of a plan, and then having to constantly change your mind and redo things over and over.
