3DS Max: Volume Loss in Bends

I'm working on a fairly high poly game character and already have the model, rig and skinning (mostly) done. The problem with volume loss in areas such as stomach, buttocks and forearm during twists is something that can't be simply fixed by adjusting weights as far as I'm aware.

I tried using the Skin Morph modifier, which fixes the issue, but at cost of its own problems. Mainly the fact that I don't know if it's possible to "collapse" the Skin Morph into the Skin modifier so the whole thing could be exported for use in e.g. Unity. There are other problems such as having multiple instances of the edited mesh as refrerence for Skin Morph (I might be doing it wrong?), and having the timeline used up for different extreme poses. I could use a different part of the timeline, but that seems messy and doesn't solve other of the aforementioned problems.

Anything usefull will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
