The Making of WALL•E, a Live Effects Event, August 28th

Thursday, August 28, 2008
6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Gnomon School of Visual Effects

Gnomon School of Visual Effects and the VES are bringing you a fun-filled night with a behind-the-scenes look into the creation of this summer’s biggest CG animated hit, WALL•E!

Special guest David Munier (Sets Supervisor) will share his experience while working on the film and what it took to make this year’s most talked about CG animated feature film.

About this Evenings Speakers

David Munier
Sets Supervisor, WALL•E

David Munier joined Pixar Animation Studios in September 2000 as a shading artist on Monsters, Inc. and has since worked on a number of Pixar feature films including the Academy Award®-winning Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Cars. He has just completed work as Sets Supervisor on Disney•Pixar’s most recently released feature WALL•E.

David was born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. Early in his childhood, David became an avid comic book collector. A couple years later, when his family purchased a cutting-edge Apple ][+, David began writing computer programs to create artwork of his own. Drawn to the film industry by a “Making of Star Wars” TV special, his love of art, technology and film combined to make a recipe for success.

David earned dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Computer Science and Studio Art at Arizona State University. While there, David subsidized his comic book habit via a part-time job at The One Book Shop, a premiere location for science fiction and comic enthusiasts to meet and speak geek. Inspired by the creative and intelligent friends made there, David took a job in traditional animation at Artimation of Arizona where he inked and in-betweened many TV commercials.

When Fox Animation opened an Arizona studio in 1995, David was there. He created 3-D effects for Anastasia, Bartok the Magnificent and Titan A.E. Shortly afterward, David joined Pixar, packed up his comics, and moved to California.

David currently resides in Lafayette, California, with his wife and son. He can proudly slam-dunk any trivia question on either the Marvel or DC universe.
