Where to begin?
Hello everyone, i come to you today to ask a somewhat simple question.
Where do i start?
I am looking to be a 3D video game animator, more specifically video game trailers, and i dont know where to start. I already have some animation exprience under my belt, but i wouldnt say im good. I know about the basics of animation, but my knowledge could always be polished. In any case, I have a copy of Maya 2014 thanks to my college and i dont know where to start. I have not taken any animation classes yet so i would like to start ASAP because i want to be one of the best. Please help guide me in the right direction .

Hi, You can simply find many tutorials if you are up to it, or subscribe to Digital tutors. They are pretty good when it comes to explaining any subject. You can learn many stuffs from walk cycle to lip sync with a DT subscription.
Also search for "Keith lango's animation tutorials". He explain many things about animation in Maya and he is awesome in teaching. And the best thing to know more about animation would be Richard william's Animator survival kit.
Hope it helps!

You should begin with learning the animation fundamentals really well. The mentioned classic Richard William's book "Animator's survival kit" is a must have and must read many many times over as it covers the area of fundamentals exceptionally well.
Afterwards just further your knowledge and learn some subtleties:
Once you have your fundamentals, 11 second club is a good resource for solidifying the learning: http://www.11secondclub.com
Be it the competition itself, the discussion forums, or the few but good tutorials.
