Urgent Help - Wrap animation

Hey,

Im fairly new to 3ds max but a quick learner. Im in need of a bit of help quick!
Im trying to animate a flat plane wrapping around the model in the screen shot below. The best way to describe what im looking for is to imagine that shape had a split in it and was opened up until flat, then animated to bend back round to create the original shape.

The shape is an arm cast for a project im on at uni shown in the image below. Im just trying to get that outer layer selected to start flat and wrap around to conform to the shape of the arm. I have no idea of a good way to do it, ive tried cloth sims but my knowledge means they just sit on top of the shape, ive been browsing tutorials for hours im kinda lost :(

Any help/ suggestions would be hugely appreciated!!

Cheers, Chris
