Recording modifier animation to keyframes in blender

Hi. I am currently working on a game and I created a model in blender, which uses the wave modifier for it's animation. Can I somehow record the animation onto keyframes so I could then export it and use it in my game? (I am using OGRE).

Turn on the mdd export/import addon in the preferences.

Then go to export "Lightwave Point Cache" mddd, and set the speed and number of frames you wish to eport.

Turn off the wave modifier. Select the object, and import the mdd (import->Lightwave Point Cache). Each frame is now applied as shape keys.

To export the animation to Ogre you may have to resort to 2.49. I checked the state of the 2.5 Ogre Exporter, and it looks as if shape key animation is not yet supported.
