Car windshield modeling

Hi,

I am texturing a car, and I have run into a problem: it's a high-poly model (converted from an imported STEP file), and it does not have separate parts, thus i cannot assign a glass-like material to the windshield part.

I tried to solve this, by recreating the windshield part with a separate model, and i would assign a material to that one, placing it on top of the real model.

I tried to solve this by creating a CV curve with the shape of the winfshield. I created a nurbs surface from that (surface->planar). I converted it to poly, and then applied extrude. Then I wanted to create the intersection and the extruded plane by boolean, which does NOT work.

Could you help me do this? (It would be nice to have a some solution like the masks in Zbrush)

here is the model, and the nurbs plane that i want to project:

this is how the windshield should be positioned: (front view)
