3D Model Help


I recently acquired some 3D models (.obj files) but they were un-textured. They came with unwrapped texture maps (.png files). I was wondering how I would apply the maps to the model or if this is even possible.

Please help me out,

When you import the .obj make sure the option to import the UV's is checked (it happens to me in max sometimes)

If that's not the problem then you'll most likely have to unwrap yourself and do your best to fit back to the texture. Hopefully the original layout wasn't too chaotic or you'll get a lot of seams and possibly distortion.

What 3D software are you using for this? If you are bringing the obj's into ZBrush, you can check if they have UV's by looking at the UV Map palette. The UV button will be greyed out if there are no UV's, white if there are.
Or you can go to the Texture Map palette and click "new texture from UV" and a thumbnail of the UV will appear.

In Max and Maya, you can easily see if there are UV's by looking at them in the UV editor.
I like to learn.
