Trying to recreate the snow in this scene

Hello everyone, I am new to modeling and I am trying to recreate this scene or at least part of it, here is the video http://vimeo.com/49594235 now look in the seconds 00:25 to 00:31 the mountains and the snow on them.

I am trying to recreate the mountains and the snow thats on the mountains, actually I already know how to create the mountains with this exact low poly look, I am using a Landscape, my main problem is creating the snow thats on the mountains, how do you create that? how do you model it? how to even start? any ideas would be helpful.

Maybe extruding some of the faces? I thought of this but it felt a bit unclean way of doing it, what would you guys do.

Thank you!
Dave.

Hey man,

That's a neat look for sure. Have you tried emailing the artist who made it? His contact info is on his site. My guess is that he cloned the mesh, coloured it white, and applied a procedural displacement to it. Where the snow is lowered, it sinks into the main mesh, and where its raised, it protrudes a bit.
