Normal Mapping

Hey all,

I'm new to normal mapping, so in trying to understand it I made a low-poly sphere in Maya, used it to make a high-res normal map in Zbrush (with the help of UV Master), and put it back in Maya. I put the normal map in the sphere's material's bump node. I expected a sharp silhouette, but smooth interior. Instead it basically renders the low-poly sphere as if it had no normal map.

Sorry if this might not be the right forum or if it's a repeat, but I haven't been able to find an answer elsewhere. Thanks for the help!
