Softimage 2014 viewport performance destroyed?

Is it just me or the animation playback and generally viewport performance of Softimage 2014 are destroyed? Last night I imported medium poly skin (10 248 polygons) of my character as FBX and connected it to its animation cache and... I get slide-show of every 50 or 60 frame... What happened with great real-time viewport of earlier versions of Softimage?
OK, my GPU isn't top of the line... its Ati 7750 1 GB DDR5... but in every other software (Max, Maya) this same geometry and cache flies like a wind... only here - a wounded snail...
Yes, I tried real-time settings, caching, limiting to 24 fps, etc. etc. and every other trick that I could lay my hands on and still nothing... ooo yes it can show perfect textures and shadows (turned off ofcourse) but it can't push cached geometry at decent frame rate...

Can't say I've seen it happen myself or heard it reported.
It's not a general case of the performance having dropped, might be more specific to a combination of settings and videocard drivers/settings.
