Environment shader blurry?..

Hello Everyone,

Ok I am playing with environment shaders from within the default pass options but whenever I apply an image to the environment (even a 50mb HDRI) when using the render region the background image appears blurry, and I can't seem to get it sharp regardless of changing the scale etc... Any pointers on how to get a sharp environment image?

Thanks, William.

I'm trying to simulate your problem, but I've a clear image with an HDRI.

Try this, open your Regions > All Options, and enable "Use Current Pass Options"

Now make your render changes from the Render Manager. This will narrow down the problems.

Also, make an empty pass (Edit > New Pass > Empty), set it to be your current pass, then apply the environment shader to your new empty pass.

Lastly, which environment shader are you using?

Hello,

Thanks for the reply.

Strangely I seem to be able to get a sharp image if I load up a fresh blank scene of an earlier save of the object and set up an environment shader, although if I do exactly teh same thing in my current scene it comes out blurry...! Can't put my finger on the setting that is having this affect at all, It isn't like I am a complete beginner either, just in the process of moving to softimage...

Perhaps I could email my scene folder over and have someone look at it?....

best regards, William.

aha got it!! hehe...

Ok I merged the newest file with a blank scene and made a new pass, this worked. And so I came to the conclusion that it has something to do wityh the camera position being reset in the new scene....

Must have zoomed the camera at some point.. If you zoom out ("z" and mouse button) and then use the middle mouse scroll to dolly the camera back in your environment goes out of focus. Not much idea why at present as I am still learning the different zoom and dolly functions of XSI but there you go
