Thumbs up Really nice work

I like your stylized use of silhouettes to develop the composition. Very cool technique to get the concept down fast. Looking forward to more great stuff.

Work In Progress: a bit more...

lots of work to do still....
havent even touched color yet. working on lighting the characters within the scene. once im happy with the tonal relationships, I will spend a day converting each shape to color, matching its original tone. THen textures still....

not much time left I know....
but I have been known to work long hours in dire situations.... ;)

Hi Jesse, the alien designs looks fun and I'm glad you didn't made them anything similar to Enki Bilal's 'The Immortel' creatures or Stargate's. The Human characters look interesting, how about adding the whole welcoming ceremony behind the Pharoah? Too much, I suppose.

Hope to see your colours very soon. About one more week to go!

I like your illustration style a lot. For example your characters are full of life, and the silhouette of the tree is simply beautiful. Wonderful stuff

Looks great, I love your alien characters, great style!
The two left characters, the girl and alien really look great.
I liked the pharao-look of the main character in your first concept too.
Waiting for more.

Nox-thanks. makes me even more enthoused to work through the night on this and get up to go to work. much appreciated.

jeromoo-workin in color tommarow....just a bit more work to be done achromatically....will post soon.

mdavid-i do love trees. in fact I have one tattooed on my left forearm. i think they are beautiful. for me, the tree is a wonderful metaphor to my approach to art. provide yourself with the nutrience needed for daily growth. give back to the environment from which you feed.

SaphireS-thanks. comin right up....

Work In Progress: final tonal finally

finally through my achromatic stage. everything is lit, and textured. Im sure as I move into color, things will need to be adjusted but for the most part, I am satisfied with the tonal relationships. I saved this image off and will have it on top of my working file as I start to color, so I can click it on and off to verify that I am maintaining tones as I assign color to shapes.
cant wait to start color!!!!!

Work In Progress: its in color! yay!

oh this was fun and easy going. less challenges here then when I was working tonally. I love working with color. I think that in the past, out of excitement, I have jumped into it too quickly, at the expense of my tonal relationships suffering. So this was a good approach for me I feel.
Essentially I started this stage by painting a little swatch. I wanted nearly all warm earthtones as you can see, complimented by vibrant blue. Once I was happy with my swatch I created an action to adjust the sky to the preffered orangy-yellow. I used that action initially to color everything that is warm. ONce I ran the action I would make slight adjustments to the layer for variety. This was my attempt at maintainting some unity. WHen I adjusted I kept things close to my color swatch.
Im pretty happy with this. But its not quite done. Over the next day or two I will be fixing little issues I notice. I have a small list as it is.

If anyone can see anything that bothers them, Id love to hear it.
Thanks for lookin....
