Maya Linux and Windows

Is there any way to share the same maya scene between Windows and Linux? Lets say I work on Windows and I created Maya scene which has some references which are located at S:\maya\references.mb (the file stored on the NAS server)
When I open the same file on a Linux computer, Maya doesn't find any references because Linux doesn't map drives like C:\ or S:\
Is there any way to make Linux file system to understand Windows path?
So the windows directory S:\maya.mb becomes S:\maya.mb on linux? Considering that the file is stored on the linux NAS server.

Ok, solved.
I just needed to set the project and Maya solves the names. I wonder if the rendering will work the same?

Rendering will work the same with the minor exception that samples for some reason are calculated slightly different on windows and linux. Meaning if you crank samples up to insane levels there's no difference, but if you use normal amounts of sampling where there's some slight noise say in your AO, if you scrutinize over the frames you'll notice an ever so slight pop when to jumps from a linux-rendered frame to a windows-rendered frame. And visa-versa.
