Concept Sketch or 3D pre-visualization: --

Made a quick color test of the chess playing guys. I kind of like the Idea.
There could be other animals watching in the background behind trees and rocks.

some how this reminds me of the animated movie from hayao miyazaki "Laputa: castle in the sky".

that 's excellent goro as usual. Colors are great and cat design is fabulous !
I don't think it need many more animals just to keep the focus and light on the main characters.

Great stuff - as always. I miss the "strange behavior" hook a bit. Because everything is strange (a cat playing chess, a robot / bird combo in nature) the contrast 'strange-normal' isn't as frontal as the challenge topic suggests... Could be interesting to focus on just one thing that sticks out or - inversely - to push it and make everything even stranger. Like... whacko.
