Good one! Isn't this face a bit too handsome? I could good imagine an ugly, almost scary face with a third-day beard

Cyberone,

if i were you i wouldnt change the expression one bit...

Hhe looks serious calm but happy...like hes proud of what hes doing, knows hes the best.knows hes being watched but thats all ok...hes not egotistical h just knows hes doing what hes been born to do...lol

Haha. Perhaps you're right. Was planning to tweak it a bit and deifinately plan to add some assymetry to the face but maybe I'll leave it as it is. Need to see him finshed andposed but his expression could well stay just as it is.

Cheers man.

Haha, excellent logo, is that the MD?. You're right, any similarity was unintentional. Love the star on stick thing though...

ihamid, hey man, good to see you. All these new usernames get confusing (mine included) You getting stuck in on this one then?

Now wait till I tell my dad that . Good point. I think i'll up the stuble a bit for good effect and adding some assymetry to the face will help to 'brute' him up no end - crooked nose, eyes off centre, variation on the lips, that sort of thing. Cheers.

Thanks for the posts,
Dave

Hey Marshy!

That really does looks just like your dad! Well done!

Great idea too, this should turn out well funny - although I think somebody might not see the funny side, hahaha!

Will watch with interest. How's the freelance thing working out?

Phil! Hello mate.

I didn't expect anyone who actually knows the old man to be lurking around here. Result. Moving onto the torso today and I've found a lovely pink tutu to put him in :-)

Freelance is working out well although I've spent the last year focusing more on websites as they're far easier jobs to find. I got back to some 3D about a month ago with the naked girl in my porfolio and realised I'd forgotten how much I love it. And how much web design sucks in comparison.

Not sure what the future holds, either way I'm going to give this comp my best shot. Are you going to join in the fun?

How's things your end?

gpepper, yep did change my username. Got bored of the last one and I like to keep you on your toes :-)

Cheers man.

I was trawling through the thumbnail entries for this compeition and knew it was your dad as soon as I saw it... even at that resolution!

I need to find time for this competition as I really like the theme. Coming up with a good idea is the first major hurdle before getting started. So many things I like to try...

Glad you made the right move, and I couldn't agree more about the web stuff versus 3d work. I'm doing more motion graphics and 3d at this company so I'm happy. Recently finished this little intro animation:
http://www.ebbmedia.com/3d/logodudes.zip

Those are some major 'assets' she's got there, hehe!

So you've stopped using Brazil for VRay then? I'm still stuck with Mental Ray for now, but VRay for XSI is in development and I'll be making the switch then too!

Keep up the good work mate,

Phil

Line Art or Model: Old Guy Body

Got the basic body done today... now to add the tutu...

Haven't gone hugely into detail on the body as most of it will be lycra clad... This feels so wrong.

But I like it :-)

Line Art or Model: Getting Wronger...

Only basic materials atm but you get the idea. Next i'll add the hairy chest and get some displacement on the leotard to add wrinkles and stuff.

:-)

top notch work. and i've got to say, the speed at which you're churning this out is a little scary.
