The Story

Need a TITLE

One sunny spring day Rohlio, the snail, was looking for food. With his caravan on his back, he had come from the far south part of the city, had crossed the fields around the town and was already in the very centre of the first fruit garden in the outskirts of town. The long journey had made Rohlio feel hungry, thirsty and longing for a short rest. He had just made up his mind to relax for a while, when he suddenly noticed a ripe, red strawberry lying on the ground. Anticipating the royal feast, Rohlio hurried up, immediately forgetting his need for rest. In the middle of the road he was horrified to see a worm, also rushing towards the tasty, juicy fruit. In no time, the worm caught up with the snail and outdistanced him, because the snail was considerably slower because of his home on the back. The snail reached the strawberry when the worm had already taken a bite off it. Obviously, the worm enjoyed the tasty food. He licked himself noisily, spitting round and foolishly grinning for having overtaken the snail. Furious at having missed the wonderful strawberry, the snail passed along the worm’s feast, thinking that he could have eaten the worm if it had not been so disgusting - so hungry was the snail.

In a while, behind a few tufts of grass, he noticed another, much better strawberry. He rushed for it but first turned round to check for another unpleasant surprise. The snail saw the worm eating up the remains of the first strawberry, so he sped up his crawl to avoid being overtaken again. However, the worm noticed that Rohlio headed for a new goal, so he left the strawberry remains and fell greedily to reach it. Rohlio’s advantage quickly melted away. Again, the snail lost this race of speed because of his load. The worm was first again, and quickly occupied the new goal - a big, juicy and fresh strawberry. Anticipating that he would stay hungry again, the Snail was growing angrier and angrier, nervously pulling his antennas and twisting his little head around and around. The Worm was still enjoying the sight of his food, wondering from where to start when noise from something falling on the ground attracted their attention … Goggled-eyed, they caught a glimpse of the most beautiful cherry they have ever seen. Momentarily, the Worm gave up the strawberry, and the Snail harnessed all its strength to win at least this battle. The worm was faster ahead as he had no burden on his back, like the snail. This time, the Snail was quick to take action and threw away his shell so his movements now were much faster. It seemed that it gave him good advantage as the snail was catching up and even overtaking the worm.

A raven was flying low, searching for food. Suddenly, the raven noticed two creatures in the grass. They looked like two worms rushing one after the other. The first one looked bigger and juicier, and the bird darted down to it. Noticing the dark shadow over himself, the snail instinctively coiled, but his shell was gone ... Feeled the menace, the worm figure out the need to hide in the snail's shell, and when the bird fly away he try to pick up the shell of Rohlio, evaluate her advantages.

The Script

Need a TITLE

01. Exterior - a field at sunrise
There is a cherry tree in the middle of the field. There is a dirt road on the left side of the tree, and on the right side - a river in which the sunrise is beautifully reflected. PANORAMIC MOTION from left to right. A bird flies over, crossing the shot towards the tree. The upper left part of the shot is filled with sky on which the TITLE slowly appears.

02. Exterior - a garden - day
The shot reveals a dandelion, grass, the cherry tree and a float of birds scuffling for a cherry. The cherry falls down and hits the dandelion which shakes and sends away its parachutes blown away by the wind to the right corner of the shot. One of the birds flies down to the cherry. Gradient to black

03. Exterior - in the grass
A SILHOUETTE of a snail on a leaf stirred by the snails creeping; next to it, there is a motionless flower. The snail RAISES his head up.

04. Exterior - a leaf - sunrise
The snail is on the leaf TRYING to have a bite at a juicy strawberry. The wind blowing from the left, carries the dandelion parachutes that are floating over the snails head. The SNAIL GETS SCARED AND HIDES in his shell. From the light breath of air and the snail's coiling in fright to hide itself, the leaf shakes and the snail DROPS DOWN.

In its fall, the snail knocks another leaf, BOUNCES OFF it and FALLS on the ground.

The snail SHYLY PEEPS through the shell hole. He SLOWLY raises his head.

With great effort, the snail fixes his shell upright. He SADLY GLANCES at the strawberry that he could not even taste. He SIGHS DEEPLY and creeps on his way

when his eyes suddenly fall on another strawberry on the ground.

He is heading to the strawberry anticipating the great feast.

In the middle of the road, a worm CATCHES UP WITH the snail.

the worm is also RUSHING for the strawberry. The Snail watches the worm.looks back to the strawberry, turns his eyes back to the worm that has already outdistanced himand speeds to the strawberry to CATCH UP WITH the intruder.

Because of his shell, the snail is much slower, and he just manages to ARRIVE when the worm has already taken a bite off the strawberry.

The snail TIMIDLY reaches for the strawberry from which the worms tail hangs. At that moment, the worm raises his head from behind the strawberry, SMACKING his lips in the snails face.

The worm RAISES his tail, slapping the snail in the face, and then he wipes his mouth with his tail.

He throws the leftovers aside, and bends over to eat from the strawberry.

Then, the snail attempts to reach the strawberry from its other end.

At that moment, the worms head peeps through the strawberry, smacking its lips and spitting in the snails eyes.

The worm enjoys the scene and the tasty strawberry when a noise from a falling object DRAWS THEIR ATTENTION

It is the MOST BEAUTIFUL cherry they have ever seen.

They both RUSH for it. The worm TAKES THE LEAD before the snail.

The snail THROWS his shell AWAY.

The snail CATCHES UP WITH THE WORM and even outdistances him

The raven is flying low, searching for the cherry. He suddenly spots two worms, one after the other. The first one is bigger and juicier.

The birds shadow looms over them. Then, the snail instinctively COILS, trying to hide in his shell.but the shell is gone. The worm manages to escape IN A FLASH, and retreats.

In the foreground, the shell is not in focus; in the background the bird DIVES DOWN TO the snail and catches him with his beak. Focus on the shell which the worm reaches and hides into. The bird fly away and worm try to pick up the shell. Fade out.
